The Lagos State Ministry of Health on Saturday said it had sealed a personal medical laboratory performing COVID-19 tests inside a drug store at Banana Island in Ikoyi, Lagos.
The ministry, through its Twitter account, stated that the lab; Acouns Medical Lab and Diagnostic Centre, located inside a pharmacy,
was carrying out COVID-19 tests without required government approval.
It recommended citizens to desist from patronising health facilities not recognized by the state federal government for screening or management of COVID-19 cases.
According to the ministry, it positions danger to the neighborhood and staffs of such centers.
” It is prohibited to manage COVID-19 cases outside of a certified center.
” We urge the general public not to opt for test or treatment in a personal facility that has actually not been recognized by government.
” It threatens and it might put you at more danger,” it said.
The ministry said that the lab was sealed through one of its agencies- Health Facility Keeping Track Of Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA).
It stated that the ministry would continue to do its finest to ensure that health centers in the state adhere strictly to requirements that guarantee the health and health and wellbeing of Lagos citizens.
