But there are some considerations when it comes to fasting throughout a pandemic.
So it is essential to make sure you get enough calories during the hours you are allowed to eat – and accomplish an “energy balance” of:
- macronutrients – carbs, proteins and fats
- micronutrients, such as vitamin C and iron
Diabetes UK head of care Daniel Howarth stated the decision was “absolutely a personal reflection” but there were some safety measures people with well managed conditions who desired to quickly could take, including eating slower-release carbs, such as wholegrain bread and rice, and screening your blood sugar more frequently.
And it is not clear how long you would have to quick to replicate the result.
