Bhubaneswar: In a major policy shift, Odisha government on Monday decided to allow home isolation of asymptomatic and slightly symptomatic COVID-19 patients.
Announcing the development, Odisha Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy stated that home isolation will just apply only in city areas consisting of 114 city regional bodies, district headquarters, sub-divisional towns and block head office in the very first phase with certain conditions.
To further ease concern on existing health care facilities, particularly in devoted COVID Care Centres and COVID hospitals, Odisha federal government will corporates, institutions, establishments, NGOs, firms, resident welfare associations with sufficient health care centers to keep their own members, workers & employees with COVID-19 infection in seclusion with particular conditions.
As per the WHO and the Health ministry, around 80%of COVID-19 clients are asymptomatic or slightly symptomatic and do not require crucial healthcare. Mainly, they need isolation and if we keep such cases in healthcare facility, then our resources can not be utilized efficiently. In coming days, we need to see that those favorable cases who require critical care the most get it on concern basis, said Tripathy.
” Asymptomatic and slightly symptomatic clients who are taken to healthcare facilities feel mental duress and we have actually discovered that they conceal symptoms by taking Paracetamol or other medications. Community Corporations, Bhubaneswar and Jharsuguda airports, East Coast Railway (all centres), Paradip, Gopalpur and Dharma ports, State/Central PSUs that have areas & colonies, Central Armed Authorities Forces like CISF, BSF, CRPF, NDRF, Odisha Authorities, Fire, Directorate of Prisons, Universities and deemed universities, community forurms like Marawari, Jain Samaj, Mosque or Gurudwara committees who have land and resources can produce COVID Care Residences and seclusion facilities for their workers and members, he stated.
Nevertheless, persons who are HIV positive, identified with cancer, those who have actually undergone kidney transplants, elderly persons with other co-morbidities like high blood pressure, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, lung, liver and kidney illness will not be allowed home seclusion, Tripathy included.
