Coronavirus lockdown measures mean a British air hostess locked up in Dubai has not had a visitor in the notorious prison where she’s being held.
Derrin Crawford was arrested on June 21 after police found cannabis in her date’s apartment.
The 23-year-old, who works for Emirates Airlines, was held at a police station in the UAE before being transferred to the notorious Al Barsha prison.
According to Human Rights Watch, an international non-governmental US organisation, al-Barsha was named as one of three detention facilities across the country where prisoners live in poor conditions.
She was able to call her worried family on June 25.
A Foreign Office spokesman said: “We are supporting a British woman who is currently detained in the UAE and will look to visit her when local lockdown restrictions are lifted.
“We are in contact with Emirati authorities and have provided details of local lawyers to her family.”
Derrin’s family are trying to find her a lawyer while the British Embassy are believed to be looking into her case but have not visited her in jail.
A petition set up in support of Derrin has more than 3,500 signatures.
The petition reads: “Derrin has had a difficult life after losing her mum at age 11 and soon after her Aunty who was her secondary caregiver.
“Moving to Dubai was a dream come true to her now it is a nightmare.
“She is young, innocent & living a nightmare.”
The 23-year-old is reported to have passed a mandatory drugs test but despite this the Brit is still being held in handcuffs in the hellhole prison.
Her sister Danielle has spoken and says she doesn’t smoke or touch drugs of any kind.
Worried Danielle told the Mail Online : “She is innocent, she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
